The Morning After (TMA) is one of South Africa’s most booked live bands, bringing big singalongs and unforgettable energy to weddings, corporate events, festivals and private celebrations since 2008.
With two SAMA nominations, an Afri-Indi Award and around 160 performances a year, TMA combines accomplished musicianship with a feel for what gets a crowd going.
Their repertoire features over 500 songs spanning the 1960s to the 2020s—from rock and pop to country and Afrikaans favourites. Private-event performances feature covers only, filled with songs your guests know and love.
Available throughout South Africa and internationally, they’ll bring the music, personality and experience to make your celebration one to remember.
DIRK KLUT
Lead Vocals, Guitar, Songwriter
Dirk knows the lyrics to over 500 songs off the top of his head, but don’t ask him where he left his keys. TMA’s frontman is a perfectionist behind the scenes and a party starter onstage. He takes the music seriously—and having a good time just as seriously. Expect big singalongs, a little banter and eye contact that makes you briefly wonder whether this is a private concert.
SHANNON SUTHERLAND-CLARK
Drums
A seasoned, SAMA award-winning drummer with encyclopaedic general knowledge and the sense of humour of a schoolboy, Shannon is the guy you want on your quiz team—and never against you in 30 Seconds. He knows his sound equipment, is an avid golfer (a five handicap, thank you very much) and is TMA’s real-life Bob the Builder. Can he fix it? Yes he can! Keeping the band in time is his job. Acting his age remains optional.
JAN WOLMARANS
Bass
Having played for a who’s who of South African artists, Jan brings serious credentials—and enough energy to make ten espressos look like a bedtime drink. TMA’s resident groove meister runs, jumps and somehow keeps the bassline locked in throughout. Quick-witted and dangerously good at rewriting lyrics on the spot, he’s the reason the rest of the band occasionally struggles to sing with a straight face.
